NEW - Improved Coach Jack 2024

ok I’ll work on it now

it’s done

The zone 2 sprints appear to be in conflict with normal zone 2 goals. I understand the cadence training.

Could there be an option to turn the sprints off?

Dave

Being a “Mr Z2 guy.” I know this was real struggle for me… I figured most hard core Z2 guys should use HR and hoping to slip this in without anyone suggesting this option  So I was waiting for message. So really, I am with you. Are you saying you would like this right away? If so we can get on it.

I like to do things by the book but Andrea is not such a purist Zone 2 guy and he feels these are good and not going to add fatigue. And make them more interesting for sure. But for those of us that believe the “special Z2 sauce” story well then…

I’ll try them as is again, the first time the sprints seemed abrupt, but I may not have been open minded.

Dave

We put a little ramp before it. I did it on my spin bike so did not test what ERG feels like on the wahoo or Neo, I need to try this… I think different devices will feel different as well.

Try doing the sprints standing up - they allow your ass to get some well-deserved rest on those long Z2 days on power trainer  I’m a fan

Dave, curious as to your thoughts on the micro sprints.

I haven’t been on the trainer since early last week. The weather has been great so I’ve been riding outside.

I prefer the CJ slope style workouts where Z2 is a constant 65%, but my trainer does not like the automated erg/slope changes and will stop controlling.

So, if I use the TD app I have to use the non-slope version due to that issue and would have the micro sprint WOs. I’ve been using Zwift lately, but haven’t been into it so I’ll be reviewing app options. Maybe use TD? Maybe Rouvy?

Dave

Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy the outdoors. How quickly does HR+ stop working for you? If it is easy to reproduce fairly quickly we could try fixing that.

It’s interesting on Rouvy because they sure seem to have a lot of complaints but I know at the same time friends that that is their preferred platform and it seems in general their user base really likes it. I have heard doing ERG style workouts there is not good though.

Sorry I’d have to try it again. Last time HR+ was fine starting at 40% in erg then left in HR+ but had an issue going back to erg for cool down.

I’m happy with constant power in Z2 and just tweaking plus or minus myself manually. This is an option if I use manual workouts.

My trainer has issues with trying to flash firmware updates so any issues may be on my side.
