Hi everybody,
I am fed up of using my spin bike with Favero power pedals, I want something more advanced and use ERG mode…
I don’t have a dedicated room so space is a bit of a problem, the spin bike I currently use is just perfect in terms of measurements, my gaming/training platform is Zwift and the whole setup has to be moved from one room to another to let me train…
I don’t want to spend more than 1600 Euro and I selected below indoor trainers up to now:
Smart Zbike 2.0 1.600 Euro
Zwift Ride with Kickr Core 1.300 Euro
All opinions and suggestions welcomed, it is a big investment and I want to buy the right thing…
Oh sorry, I forgot to respond. I really don’t know. I wanted to say zbike can have ERG issues as I remember some users contacting me with problems but I am not sure and google search did not show any issues. This quietness of a spin bike is nice, probably durability is much longer but zwift+wahoo is such a standard in the performance biking world that would be my choice. Now my guess is zbike might be more comfortable and have wider bike fit options so that might be a reason to go that route. Also on either of these you still might want to stick your pedals on their for more accurate power reading.
Hmm, this Zbike looks good. If your goals are indoor only then that would actually lead me towards that bike. I have a really nice spin bike and I wish it had ERG and slope support. I love that it is silent. Like I mentioned to me it seems spin bikes like can last forever where getting 5 years out of a wahoo core with constant use would be reasonable 10 would be surprising.
I should say I know an Italian coach / youtuber that uses zbike and trainerday basically daily for years and just looking through our conversations he said he never has problems.
Hi Alex,
I think that my final choice is going to be Zbike…
Zwift Ride costs less and it’s perfectly integrated in the Zwift environment that I use but I am not totally convinced…
One final thought, am I mistaken or are you suggesting to use the Favero pedals even on the new bike ??? If the answer is yes could you pls tell me why ???
Yep Zbike seems good. Power meters in training devices are and especially smart bikes like this are just rough estimates. It looks like zbike is reasonably accurate but favero will likely be more accurate. For me personally I don’t care about total power accuracy that much meaning even if zbike reports too much and my FTP is too high this does not matter unless you are trying to compare it to outdoors and set targets for outdoor training. So I agree you likely don’t need them on the zbike and I likely would not use them but you might want to just try them to compare the power.
