I have a Kinetic Road Machine Smart Trainer that I have been using for 4 years. It connects with the Kinetic app and my iphone 15 see’s it as bluetooth but wont connect to the TD app. I tried resetting my phone and the TD app shows up in my phone using bluetooth.
Anything I can do to connect?
Thanks Dave Z
Hi Dave, sorry, saw your email also, just slow start today. Without using some type of Ant+ phone or some other device I don’t think their is anything you can do. I don’t believe this trainer uses the modern standard bluetooth protocols (FTMS).
Hi Alex,
Thanks for fast reply, looks like I need a new trainer as Kinetic is out of business.
Will this one work with your app?
It indicates Bluetooth 4.0 & ANT+ Connection is that compatible with your app?
Thanks,
No it does not appear that it does. You need to find one that says it supports FTMS.
This would be one of the most popular / high quality wheel on trainers, 50$ more

I will tell you that a direct drive trainer is a lot better than a wheel on trainer, like this one
But you might need a cassette also which pushes the price up. But it’s much quieter, much more accurate power, won’t wear out tires…
Want to make sure I understand, you are saying your app will only work with FTMS? This really limits the trainers currently for sale. For example the Wahoo kickr snap that you recommended only list ANT+, Bluetooth, ANT+ FE-C.
I was hoping yo use your app but it appears to be very limited to only a few trainers that I could find with FTMS.
As there are many apps that support ANT and bluetooth + it makes it difficult to purchase yours with its strict limitation.
Thanks for your help and hopefully in the near future your app will support the majority of trainers currently for sale.
No, our app works with Wahoo Snap. FTMS is a part of bluetooth. We also support FEC over BLE and old Wahoo protocol. 100% of the main brands use these protocols. It’s only old trainers, the very inexpensive no-brand name ones or fitness bikes that might do a non-standard protocol these days. We support Ant+ on Android devices that have in built in Old Samsung but that seems to be going away.
So I should say you might find an old samsung phone for $100 with Ant+ that would be cheaper than upgrading your trainer but I think upgrading the trainer would be the better/safer route.
Will your app work with the Wahoo Fitness KICKR?
Yes it does. I have one but so a lot of our users. Make sure nothing else or no other apps are connected to it. You can even try free version of our app.
Thanks Alex,
My Wahoo arrives Saturday I will test with your free app and if it works will get your premium app.
BTW after reading some of your posts I too am polish.
I also trained with Maffetone years ago, did many MAF tests. I switched to the Morris block training when racing. Now retired and looking forward to following the TD program
Wow cool. Polish and Maffetone I am not Polish but live in Poland and like/love it. Retired lucky you. Yes I am sure your Wahoo will work and free version is great.
