Coach Jack Heart rate training

I was looking at CJ heart rate training. I wonder if it is possible to create a training based on HR duration. The new whoop AI in the morning will suggest a cycling workout based on HR zone. For example, it will tell me to spend 20 mn in zone 1, 15 in zone 2 and so on to get a targeted HR strain. Is that possible with CJ? i do not think, creating manually is possible though. last time i created a workout, i could only pick Watts of % of FTP if i recall.

You can now create HR workouts for outdoors in CJ but not for indoors. You must custom design HR+ workouts or the easy thing is just open our app, press quick start, HR+ and your target HR.

I do indoors on my trainer. Too dangerous around here to be outside. Crazy drivers. But I could change my target hr on the fly while riding. Did not think of that.
Thanks.

Yes, I am in Poland it roads are narrow and cars are fast so very scary for me too… But the good part is I have unlimited amounts of riding on roads with no cars as long as I don’t mind connecting them with gravel. You can ride all of Poland on unpopulated roads with a gravel bike. See here. I live in a giant park/forest but look at all the small gravel / dirt roads and trails.

Nice, I live at the beach where all the crazy tourists are. I go in the country when i ride my motorcycle. I could take my bike on my truck and park in the countryside. The downside is that around here, it is not challenging. I am at ocean level so everything is flat. On my trainer, i can push my heart rate with hill climbs. It is better to be outside though. I do have a huge window and a big fan. I can ask my wife to walk by to simulate a pedestrian

If it flat and you want elevated heart rate why not just push it and go hard? That sounds like a great way to spend a weekend day.

Dave

Maybe i am not good enough but i cannot reach HR above 179 on a flat road as much as i can push. I can create a workout in TD to achieve that though. I feel like when i go outside it is more like a recovery ride as all is flat.

Max HR is not important indoor or out. Do you have a power meter on outdoor bike? Just go try to do 130% of FTP for 8 minutes… Or just sprint as fast as you can for 1 minute, take 1 minute break and do it again… But outdoors is really more about durability. Just do 90% of max HR for as long as you can… In reality the beauty of riding outside is just riding outside… There must be some place you can push yourself or the easiest way is to find a faster friend or group ride.

Alex, I do not have a power meter on my bike. Only my trainer has it. Indeed I could try to go as fast as I can to see if I reach 90% of my max hr. I would need to go at least 179. I could try to see if that is possible. I am thinking about getting some VR glasses that makes you think you are outside. I can have some smell good flower dispenser and add one more fan. Just kidding. But I have seen some cool VR devices though.

You are not listening  Just go as hard as you can for 1 minute and keep repeating it. Try to keep the speed fairly steady. Don’t worry about HR it does not matter in this case.

Regarding VR. I am a sim racer and most of my friends use VR. I tried it but prefer monitors. I don’t think VR while cycling would be fun at all. Too uncomfortable and especially not while sweating.

Ok. I get it now. I bet using a projector instead of a screen will be more immersion. You are right about sweating. I have headphones when I ride and they become sweaty.
to tell you the truth I like to ride by myself. I tried swift with the companion app but I do not see the appeal of chatting while riding. I do miss riding behind someone when it’s windy:)

Or just like sim racing a super ultrawide 57" samsung or triple monitors… Normally projectors don’t have enough resolution or as sharp as good TV’s. Triples are cheaper than 57" but the stand can cost you.

I love going on rides with my friends but I also like by myself. But those are just fun rides but do remember 80-90% of your effort should be zone 2 for most of the season, and if you are aerobically decent or going very 3+ hours then zone 2 outdoors is perfect.

I have made a plan around 60min. 3 different intervals depending on HR. You can customise or just de/increase reager HR or skip to next level.

It’s based on my Morpheus week zones. ( search Morpheus it should be public

Appreciate it. I got it and installed it in my favorites but not sure on how i can edit the target HR. It seems like i canot edit the workout. Or i cannot find where. Maybe because it is not mine. Not sure

Click copy workout under the 3 dots.

Dave

Yep. Did that but you have no edit option. Only workout you created. So i cannot customize it

Sorry, it is working for me. Probably need help from Alex.

Dave

You must not have copied. Copy opens in the edit screen.

I see. Indeed I saved it to favorite. Now in the edit screen, the last column has a target BPM. Can I put the hr I want here ? I also see a zone column. Is that a power or hr zone? Sorry, I have not created a workout in a long time.

zone shows power zone. if you search here there are explanations how to create hr+ workouts. also i have a youtube video on it. trying to be gen-z without capitals.
