A minor bug with the new update.
On my created workouts the Auto stop / Start isn’t working.
I have the correct setting set in the app to make it auto stop/start but it isn’t. Its caught me out a couple of time when I’ve jumped off the bike to adjust the fan position and then continued pedalling only to realise 3 mins later I was still paused. Ive tried toggling the option off and on and its still does the same thing.
I’m running 6.9.7 on an iPhone SE iOS 18.4.1.
Theres a couple of labels that are cut off also on the layout but I think thats due to the smaller screen of the iPhone SE. Not really a problem.
Hey Alex…
Ok so does yours work if you manually pause the workout then start the workout again and don’t use the manual start button?
It used to be that it would auto restart but it doesn’t anymore.
Interesting, that was actually a “bug” before, meaning originally it was that once you manually paused that cancelled auto-pause, and it did work that way but maybe at some point it stopped and started working like you said. The vision was you should just stop pedaling and start pedaling if you want auto-pause to keep working.
I am not 100% sure which is best (interested in feedback) but is there any problem with stopping and starting pedaling and not using those buttons?
I think the only reason I use pause as it’s instantaneous where as the auto takes a while to recognise that you’ve stopped.
If I had a choice, and I don’t even know if it’s possible, if the workout is paused irrespective of how it was paused it should kick back in when you start pedalling.
Similarly it should pause if you either hit the pause button or after a period of no activity.
I don’t know why you’d want to start pedalling and it not kick back in automatically.
However if that’s the way it works then it’s just the way it works
I can live with either, it’s rare that I would stop mid session anyway.
What’s possible from the programming side I guess?
I would say it’s a rather easy change and you might be right. Previously I believe I ran into some scenarios that had problems which is why I forced press start again but now I can’t image what those are.
The only thing I could think of is if you wanted to adjust something on the bike and not have it record during the session but Im not sure why you’d do that…
If that option covers all the scenarios then keep as is. You’re covered then.
One option might be to have a banner or a visual cue to show that it’s paused. Then at least you’ll know you have to manually re-start the session. i think its just the fact that I hadn’t realised it was still paused.
That way you can keep the manual start / stop and also have the auto start/stop.
Wouldn’t need much… Can you do a similar thing to the comments that pop up if you program them in?
Easy to suggest things from my end but not sure its that easy to implement…
But we also have manual start stop in the settings that makes it always manual start stop. He is just suggesting with auto that it stays auto rather than this hybrid option. Are you using manual in the settings or using auto + manual pauses?
I remember now the problem. If you press pause and you are still pedaling it will just start again. We can put a delay but then it blocks it for a while. We just kept running into issues where it would start automatically when we did not want it to and that is why we did manual stop switches it to manual mode.
Hey Alex
That’s fine if that’s the way it needs to work.
I think a banner showing paused would solve the issue. It doesn’t matter then how it works. I completely get the manual mode.
