Concept2 ERG power not showing

Alex.
I recently updated my RowERG to a PM5 module to use it with my other workout apps. I have the latest code on the PM5 (v459.010) and running the TD app on an iPhone 15 (latest patched iOS - v18.5). The PM5 connects to both the Concept2 ERG app over Bluetooth and provides all relevant data, but in the TD app, it shows connected (all green, tagged for cadence, speed, and power source) but nothing shows up in the app. It shows as “RowerTrainer, PM5 id of PM5”, but doesn’t update the app with data. I have the workout set for Sport: RowERG. Very occasionally it will flicker a power number, very occasionally, but never stroke or speed. Is this a known problem with the Concept2 PM5 integration? Thx.

Should show power normally. I have a C2 PM5 but don’t use it enough  Let me test it.

Alex.
Any luck? I just tested again, both with direct Bluetooth PM5 → iPad (M2), and with a NPE Cord intermediary. Both are seen by TD and selected (one at a time for testing), but nothing comes through on the data screen. C2 Erg app is fine on the same device (sees the PM5 and pulls all data).

Thanks.
Peter

Sorry, sorry, I keep thinking about testing this. No one else has said anything. One other thing is maybe try re-installing our app or making sure you allow location services for bluetooth to work. But I will see if I can’t do it today or tomorrow. It’s raining now and my C2 is covered outside

Ok yes I am seeing the same. Strange, I know we had some rowers in the past, maybe not in the summer time. No one else reported this. We will get this fixed.

Alex
Thanks for following up. I’m glad you are seeing the same thing - my interactions with technology can often leave me a bit of an outlier (nothing works as it “should”!). Looking forward to adding the Erg to my TD plan, if for no other reason but to add a different type of repetitive motion injury to my list.

Thanks.
Peter.

I’m having the same issue. PM5 connects to the app but none of the data is being imported.

Hi, has this issue been resolved? I am thinking of getting a RowErg but only if I have the TD support so I can do my HR+training. Does the HR+ training work in the same way for rowers as for the cycling?

I am just ready to start working on this now. Get one and I promise I will have it resolved… I have a C2 so I will go test it tomorrow or this weekend at the latest. I have been crazy busy doing a bunch of improvements but that is now done and have some breathing room.

Thanks Alex! And the HR+ training is also compatible with the RowErg?

No because HR+ requires a smart trainer that you can automatically control. RowErg does not have this “smart/erg” functionality. It’s like “dumb trainer” you would just have to record normally but watch your HR.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up!

Ok I finally had bandwidth to look at this and yes, C2 is not working and now it is fixed. I will have a new version in about 3-5 days that resolves this. Sorry for anyone spending time on this when it did not work.

This fix is not in iOS version 6.4.3, correct? I just subscribed and plan to row this evening, so will need to find an alternative is this is the case. Thanks!

I think it is in 6.4.3. I will have to find later or you should see it.

I am hoping my tester approves my last version and this should be ready tomorrow. I see it was not in 6.4.3 from what I can tell.

Thank you for checking! If you need any additional beta testers for the rower, I am willing.

Cool. Thanks so much for the offer. We would like to focus more on rowing (rowing and running plans) but one complication of rowing is many rowers like to do pace and distance based training and really our app is power and time centric. I have talked to a few serious rowers and they agree time and power, or at least power is much better than pace. Pace based training has problems in rowing.

I agree - it doesn’t make sense to train by pace. The problem is the relationship between pace and power is cubic. Dropping “one split” at 2:30 requires 2 watts, at 2:00…5 watts, and at 1:45 nearly 9 watts.
