I want to set a default heartrate for HR+ training in the app.
This means that when I manually change from ERG/Slope mode to HR+ it will set my default number instead of something strange.
That is how it is supposed to work and that is how it was working but there is a bug right now. It’s not a default but it’s your last HR you had set, each time it will go back to that. Is that good enough?
that’s even better.
I just had troubles today keeping up when my target HR was set to 220 BPM… But a bug explains this well. Thanks
Then let this “mistake” stay, in fact it is even better because you don’t have to set up HR every time.
No, I think there is a current but that might not affect you in that it resets to some other value each time. We want it to remember your setting from your last workout is how it should work and I believe it is still remembering for some people. Or are you saying something else?
What happened was this.
I started my training of the day from the app, which is an ERG Workout made by fellow Coach Jack.
After the warm-up i canged to HR-mode by pressing the HR+ button on my phone and set my target BPM to 143 (maybe it was already set from last time).
After a while I encountered a segment from in my workout which I wanted to do. For that I manually changed back to ERG mode by pressing the ERG button. My smart trainer obeyed and set the power according to the workout.
After that segment was done I changed back to HR mode by pressing the HR+ button.
This time though, I was in a lot of trouble as my target heart rate was set to 220 BPM! The power increase was drastic and I had to surrender.
I paused the workout, figured out what was wrong, corrected the target BPM and pedaled my way to the end
Wow… what a cool way to work out. Ok thanks for clarifying. Yes that should not happen. Let us test that case.
The idea is to make it remember the last value entered. In my case, it doesn’t. He remembers only then when the program closes and reopens. The next day, it opens again with a default value of 80.

So I actually got it to duplicate on the same day. If I stop the workout and kill the app then it forgets.
Here is my video
So we will get this fixed soon.
I reviewed what happened in my case and i think it’s working as expected.
When switching from ERG mode to HR+ mode the app calculates the target heart rate based on the power target of the workout in that moment.
Because I was doing an anaerobic part of my workout in ERG mode and then changed to HR+ mode while it the power target was still high it calculated 220BPM as my heart rate target.
So it’s a feature not a bug. Now aware how it works I think there is no need to change it.
Nevertheless the HR target loss after closing the app is a bug and i am happy this thread brought it to light so you can improve TrainerDay even more.
No it is not supposed to work like this. You are right about how it is working. HR+ should not change unless you press up/down or create hr segments in our workout creator. How it is working now is how it should work in hr mode but we will delete hr mode soon and only have hr+. Hr mode is for dumb trainers and causes us lots of problems and users confusion.
