Erg dropout during workout when using with fulgaz

I am a recent convert to Trainer Day from Trainer Road. Reasons are, price, plans are more flexible, plan actually has a taper and a direct integration into intervals.icu which gives me good analysis. I’m using a newish iPad, running fulgaz and trainer day with a screen mirror to Apple tv… I’m getting erg drop out ( more than every 5 mins) many times during a workout at varying power levels. This same hardware software setup is exactly the same as I have been running on trainer road successfully for 6 months plus. So the only difference is trainer road out , trainer day in. When Erg control stops controlling my kicker core, I switch to slope and back to erg, and trainer day erg is again in control. But drops out again. Does anyone have any experience, tips to fix?

Sorry to hear about your issue, and happy to have you. To me it seems like fulgaz is taking control of your trainer, it’s possible that TR does a better job taking control back when it is stolen. In fulgaz I assume you have it connected as a power meter via ant+ make sure its not connected as a smart trainer in fulgaz

Thanks for the quick response. Fulgaz and trainerday both running on my ipad with fulgaz configured to not control. I screen mirror to an apple tv. I have also tried running fulgaz on the apple tv , trainer day on the iPad with the same outcome. The iPad and apple tv don’t support ant, so it’s all Bluetooth. I don’t need Bluetooth on the apple tv so I will try disabling that, and I will also try without fulgaz running, although watching lines isn’t much fun. Lol

Oh interesting, I did not even know this was possible. It’s some bluetooth 5 feature I believe, I have seen it with heart rate monitors, connecting multiple devices or apps to the same bluetooth device. The other option is to try making sure the trainer is not directly connected in ios bluetooth settings, meaning click forget this device and make sure our app is connected directly. We can try testing this idea as well as I said I have never heard of anyone doing this with a trainer.

I have tested the same configuration, but swapped from fulgaz to rouvy and the issue is resolved. So I think it’s two possible fixes. Fulgaz is taking control / resetting the controller session that trainerday is running, even though fulgaz is configured to not control. Fulgaz is not playing nice. I think it could also be fixed on the trainerday side as there is likely a notification event that the erg control is no longer active (eg fulgaz has interrupted it), even though trainerday software shows erg active. I have raised a case with fulgaz and , hoping you could also look at it too. For now I will give trainerday , rouvy and intervals a go. Thanks for your help.

Each device is unique meaning each brand and model and some times model year has unique ble functionality, I don’t believe on most or possibly any do we get notified when another device takes control. Obviously TR has more money than us and owns every device and might re take control some how. We would like to improve this but it is a very big task and requires a lot of specific device testing.
