ERG Mode seems to disconnect between intervals (SS2k device)

When doing a simple workout in ERG mode TD will move to next interval power level and trainer(SS2k) will not be able to find level and continue to drop. Ex. Work drops from 165 to 131 but trainer drops power all the way to 80 watts. The only way to recover is switch to slope mode and back to ERG. I originally thought it was the trainer but this is not happening on Rouvy. Any ideas?

That’s a strange one. What trainer do you have? Any other devices? I have seen issues that slope/erg fixes it like this in the past (have not seen it in 6 months or so) but never seen drops like this consistently on the lower power intervals like this. Any chance you can take a screenshot while doing the workout and zoomed in and the power is at 80w? Otherwise the only idea is to work with my developer in a beta test/debug mode and he can review logs.

SmartSpin2k trainer and Forerunner 265 for HR. Let me do a few more Rouvy workouts and see if I can replicate. Then I can come back and take some screenshots while doing a TD workout. I will reach out to the SS2k developer as well. That for the quick response!

Hi @Alex, I am a new user of TD. I seem to have the same settings of @thebroomster59 using ERG mode with SS2K on Schwinn ic4 and seem to have the same issue. I have tried SS2K with TR, Rouvy, MyWhoosh, etc., and things always seemed to work fine in the ERG mode. I guess this issue is specific to TD. The power seems to drop in the ERG mode, where there is a large step change in the power in between the intervals. This is specifically visible when the power increases from one interval to the next, and we can see a significant drop in the power. Perhaps some sort of smoothing on the boundary of consecutive intervals might resolve the issue, or perhaps there is some sort of ‘reseting’ involved in your code for ERG transitions. It would be great if you could let me know how to resolve the issue. Your app seems to be the most cost-effective one for my use, yet perhaps with minor issues here and there. Side note: I am also able to do vertical split of two screens in my browser using “Microsoft edge canary”, which allows me to browse any page (not just youtube) and view the app in real-time in a separate window without providing the youtube link in the app.

Interesting guys. We are happy to get SS2K working correctly, if one of you is using Android and willing to work with my developer it should not take too long to fix this. Typically 30-60 minutes of your time. Just let me know and I can give instructions how to more forward with this. One other user with a different device reported this might be a new issue for him as well.

Oh I just realizes SS2k uses ESP32 so we should be able to test this ourselves

Thanks @Alex, please let me know if needed. I will be happy to test it again.

I have a similar issue when using a SmartSpin2k. I tried doing the Whoosh Ramp Test and between each power step the watts drop for a few seconds and then it catches back up. It’s not like the OP where it disconnects completely. It’s more like a 5-10 second realignment where instead of slightly increasing the resistance it restarts back at 0 and comes back up. I never did a ramp test before so I wasn’t sure if this was an intentional rest period between steps but that doesn’t sound right to me.

Yeah that sounds strange. Can you send me a link to your ramp test from our website?

Ignore the end. I couldn’t figure out how to end the test and cool down.

Yeah that’s very strange. Exactly as you described. Let me think on this a day or two. I really don’t know what this could be.
