Hi, when I push a workout to Garmin Connect and then to my edge 830, some steps are not in the workout anymore. Like in this workout, the 21 minutes at the end is just one step in heartrate zone 2, instead of all the steps in TD.
I have the same problem with my edge 130 plus.
Looks like the nested structure is not recognised.
Correct, we had many users rightfully complaining about Garmin outdoor workouts were too many un-necessary steps.
This particular screenshot is not so bad but since our current secondary work is just that (secondary) it’s more about targeting a general intensity level. We fully agree with this is thinking is why we made the change. But that said :)…
We are working on a feature to allow pushing workouts to Garmin as Indoor or Outdoor so if you want to retain the full structure you will be able to push them as indoor. Calendar sync will still be based on assuming Garmin is outdoor.
Is there a reason you feel all those small steps are important for outdoor training? You just prefer them?
Another thing we are going to add soon is more deliberate secondary work that in some cases will come before the main work. In this case this secondary work is less about a general intensity level and more about specific additional intervals.
Let me know what you want because I think there are two camps here. Guys like you as well as the ones that prefer simpler secondary work. Simpler makes more sense to me, but this is not about me
Hi Alex, thanks for explaining this. I prefer simple as well. Those 21 minutes in Z2 were fine to ride. I was just wondering. Tomorrow this is the next workout in my plan. I guess it will have just two steps on my Garmin?:
This is actually a bug. It should have 3 steps. Warmup, Main Work and cooldown. But the training will essentially be the same as 2 steps.
