Did something happen the ERG algorithm on mobile? I tried to do a workout today and control was varying much more than normal. I became frustrated and gave up.

We did not change anything in the last approx 4 weeks. But it is strange that one other person had an issue like this yesterday.
I would say a few things. Make sure your H3 is not directly paired to your phone in ble settings. Two uninstall and re-install our app. Send me a screenshot while you are starting it. All of this takes about 5-minutes. Hard to say what the problem is.
