Power Match adjusting in the wrong direction

Hello all, I’ve encountered an odd issue with power match and I was wondering if anybody else has experienced something similar. I’ve had a look through the previous posts about power match and couldn’t find discussion about this, but if I missed it I would appreciate a point in the right direction.

I’m running Favero Assioma Uno single sided power pedals with a Wahoo Kickr snap. Using methods as described in previous posts, the discrepancy between the pedal power and trainer power is approx 35 watts (which is a lot, but from other research I’ve found that the Kickr snap has a calibration issue which can cause this, and I haven’t been able to fix it but it stays pretty consistent so I’m not too worried about that).

Upon power match calibration completion, it correctly identifies the discrepancy (within a few watts of the above testing), but instead of making the trainer give less resistance to match the pedal power to the target power, the resistance increases and it stabilizes when my pedal power is about twice the discrepancy above the target power, so it looks like the discrepancy is being added to instead of subtracted from the trainer power.

So far, I’ve freshly calibrated the pedals and the trainer a few times, I’ve tried restarting my device (iOS) and reinstalling the app, I’ve tried enabling and disabling power match repeatedly, I’ve ensured that the ERG mode is functioning (by going on a free ride without power match and increasing and decreasing the target power, and successfully watching the pedal power adjust accordingly), I tried doing a longer workout (1hr constant power) to see if it would eventually stabilize (it didn’t change much after the first minute), and I’ve messed with a few other settings, but nothing has worked.

Has anybody experienced this before? This feels like an odd one. I appreciate any help in advance!

The picture below should show the pedal power being approximately twice the discrepancy above the target power, but I guess the power correction jumped when I took the screenshot (it showed +35w just before beginning to adjust, but 192 is close to the 35+60 shown in the image… might not be a coincidence?)

Can you check that you don’t have power doubling turned on in our settings?

I do have power doubling turned on, would that cause an issue? I tried turning it off again to confirm and yes the power numbers are a better match but now it feels like I’m doing 200w and it’s only showing 100

Ok maybe we have a bug related to this. You can go into your Assioma app and turn on doubling there from what I remember. That might fix it.

Thanks for your help! I will try this when I get back on the trainer later today.

I think it will surely fix it…

Here’s my story with Assioma Uno (poor’s men power pedals  )

PC, Assioma Uno, Zwift and Ant+, default settings no problem at all…

Apple TV, Assioma Uno and Bluetooth (no Ant+)… Well, Zwift was doubling my power…
Had to go into my Assioma App and cut the power reading to a half, this fixed the problem…

Weird but true…

Ciao,

Yep, I can confirm this fixed the issue and power match works like a charm. Thank you all for your help!

Ok cool. This is still our bug… We will also get this fixed.

Hello Ethan,
Could you also check if “Power Source” is selected for your Assioma and disabled for trainer?

He is saying it is working correctly now so it must be.

Oh sorry yes can you send screenshot of your connections page like Marek said… He might be right, that it is not a pure bug.

I will send a screenshot of that page tonight after work. From what I recall, the Assioma had power source and cadence source selected while the trainer had controllable selected but not power and cadence, but I will confirm with an image tonight.

Hello, my apologies for the delay, I got a little held up last night. See the screenshot as promised (I reproduced the “bugged” condition to take this screenshot in the 2nd image, but the connections appear to be identical). Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.
