Powermatch not working - possibly an issue with spin down

Hi, new user here just trying out the app but I think I have a problem with powermatch. My setup is Garmin Vector 3 pedals which I am using as my power source, and a Tacx Bushido Smart trainer, which I have used as controllable. It is odd because the resistance changes on the trainer with the intervals and it records the power from the pedals but just doesn’t do the ‘powermatch’ bit. I have it toggled on in the settings - what else could be going wrong?

Strange, we just had a new release yesterday. Maybe there’s a bug in it. We’ll check and get it fixed ASAP.

This ride was actually last weekend - was there a problem with the previous version?

Maybe there was. I can’t remember right now. We fixed a bunch of stuff this week. We had a huge release last week. We’re doing a lot of testing right now and we can’t duplicate it.

My tester did find one weird issue. If you did an adjustment at the bottom, you know, the 100% to something else, that causes some problems right now when combined with Power Match.

I started off at 100% but I did adjust later in the ride because my output was around 20-30W higher than it should have been. I’ve just updated my TD app so I will have another ride and see how it goes. Thanks

Just did this ride, which I think was a bit better - is this what you would expect to see?

The only odd thing is that it didn’t seem to work from the start, only ‘kicked in’ at the first power change, as you can see:

No, there’s a total bug here. I completely found it. There was actually two bugs. One is it doesn’t continually adjust the power match as the workout goes along. That’s part of what you saw. And then the second one is the offset didn’t work. Both are coming with a fix, should be here tomorrow.

Okay, this fix is there now for Android and should be coming later today for Apple.

Sadly the problem remains for me - I made sure the app was the latest version on iOS - I also tried android which was similar.

I just don’t think the powermatch bit is working - erg mode changes the resistance of the trainer, but not to what the pedals are reading out, even though that’s what I can see in the app. As you can see there remains a particular problem at the beginning before the first change in wattage.

On this threshold session, the intervals were around +20 watts and the rest periods were under by about 20 watts. Erg mode definitely working because if I change gear to try to move back toward target, it pushes me back up. I ended up adjusting down the whole workout to compensate from about halfway through the longer interval which worked although the rest periods were then very low.

Let me know if I can supply you with any other diagnostics to help with the troubleshooting.

Did you update to our latest version? We really tested this a lot on multiple devices. At this point you are the only one with an issue that I am aware of. I believe this is something unique to your hardware. I have a theory. It would be better to share your work screenshot when you see it way off. My theory is your bushido needs a spin down / i.e. better calibration because the difference between your pedals and your trainer are too great for our code. I think we have some limits (I would need to verify). This is why it is good some times and bad others. Just a theory. Let me know what you find. Maybe different gearing on your bike could help as well.

Yes latest app version. Its a fair point about calibrating the trainer - I don’t actually know how to do it, so I will look it up. I changed gears during the ride and it didn’t make a difference - if I changed down then erg pushed me back up above target after a few seconds. I’ll see what I can do and share some further screen shots, thanks
