I’m new to the platform and I looked for a while, but can’t tell if this question has already been answered (or if I’m asking it in the right way) so here goes.
I’d like to pre-ride race courses (and other rides) on my trainer for a variety of reasons (e.g., figuring out gearing, pacing, etc…). If I can import the Garmin course file into TD and add my weight, will TD allow me to pre-ride the course based on the data in the course file? Additional features such as a rolling map, inferred altitude performance adjustments and tire rolling resistance adjustments would be great, but the base functionality is something that I need.
TD we can do this too, but like Dave said, for simulating outdoors it’s better to have the visual representation that you can see. Just having slopes change with no visual reference is not the best. If you wanted to try to strategically race this and apply the right power for you then bestbikesplit will create the best ERG or power targets but this is much more complicated. Again TD can do this and will create the slopes but without the visual reference it’s not as useful as biketerra…
Thanks to both of you. I really don’t care so much about the visual representation because a lot of the courses I’m doing are MTB courses where it’s not really a thing, but a running map with expected slope gradient colors (like Garmin ClimbPro) would be helpful. I will look at Biketerra and bestbikesplit.
I’m a huge Biketerra fan now, it is the old Magic Roads feature of RGT but with better smoothing. The look is retro, but it does roughly match where buildings, trees, water, etc… area and you can create routes that you’d ride outside, events, etc…
