RPM Range Inquiry

I’ve noticed that my RPM rating will turn red, and display range values during my workouts. I use primarily the wattage to determine if I am giving the correct amount of effort for the plan. If I were to try to fall in the range of the RPM value listed my wattage value would skyrocket, and put me over the prescribed wattage for the workout.

Am I doing something wrong?

  • I’m currently using the Schwinn IC4 (All Stock Parts)
  • Cycle set to 30% resistance
  • FTP: 215

Hi, I feel that RPM target targets are icing on the cake, they are the last 1% in most cases, not necessary at all. What you can do is adjust the resistance on your bike so if RPM goes up, lower your resistance but really this is not necessary and you can ignore the cadence suggestions if you want to keep it simple. Overall, I do think their is benefit in finding your comfortable cadence range for any given power target and adjust your resistance so that it feels as comfortable as possible, then if you decide to push it a bit to hit the cadences and lower the resistance that’s fine but if not don’t worry.

Thank you.

That makes sense. I’m pretty green when it comes to biking/exercise, so I’ll probably leave that alone for the time being.

If I ever get to the point where I want that extra push I’ll probably invest in the SmartSpin2K. Manually adjusting the knobs and trying to dial everything in seems daunting to me at this point.

Again, Thank you
