Select cadence sensor for ERG mode?

Hi all,

I have a question about the ERG mode in the app. I have an Elite Qubo Smart trainer, which is an on-wheel trainer, and Magene cadence sensor attached to the crank. All this time I have been thinking that ERG mode is using the Magene cadence sensor to control power but yesterday I disconnected such sensor and I was still showing cadence and controlling power, which indicates that it is using my smart trainer output.
My question is the following:

  • Is it possible to tell the app to use the external cadence sensor for ERG mode?
  • In case it is not possible. How is then the cadence estimated by the trainer? Wheel speed is not enough to derive cadence, right?

Erg mode has nothing to do with cadence sensor. We just send power target to the trainer and the trainer does the work.

It’s not our app, it’s actually all apps with ERG basically work the same way, it’s the way ERG works in trainers.
