App: TrainerDay (Android via Google Play Store / Sideloaded on Kindle Fire)
Affected Hardware:
- Rogue Echo V3.0 Air Bike
- Polar H10 Heart Rate Strap
- Pixel 6 Pro (Android)
- Kindle Fire (Android, sideloaded Play Store)
Issue Description
I am reporting a progressive connectivity failure with external sensors when using the TrainerDay Android application to record rides and sync data to Strava/intervalus.icu.
Phase 1: Heart Rate (HR) Failure (Began between 10/8 and 10/18)
The Polar H10 heart rate strap stopped syncing data to the TrainerDay app.
- The HR data was still correctly displayed on the Rogue Echo V3.0 console.
- The TrainerDay app showed no HR data.
Phase 2: Power and RPM Failure (Began after 10/27)
After October 27, the app stopped receiving Power and RPM data from the Rogue Echo V3.0 bike.
- When the TrainerDay app is paired to the bike, both Power and RPM show 0 in the app.
- Crucially, when the TrainerDay app is not paired to the bike, the bike’s console shows the correct Power and RPM data. This suggests the bike is transmitting the data, but the app is failing to read it correctly when connected.
Troubleshooting Performed
The issue is not device-specific. I have tested the connectivity behavior on two separate Android devices with identical results:
- Pixel 6 Pro
- Kindle Fire (using a sideloaded Google Play Store version of TrainerDay)
The consistent failure across two different hardware platforms and the specific observation that the bike displays data when unpaired from the app leads me to believe this is an issue within the TrainerDay app’s handling of the sensor connections, possibly related to a recent update rolled out around early to mid-October.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
