[SOLVED] - HR Targets not working after erg segments in custom workouts

HR Stuck on 125 my HR 100 and its not changing tried deleting app now i can not log in tried resetting password blank screen i use apple.
why fix whats not broke so annoyed this last couple of months with all the bugs i do pay for this app also.Another training session ruined

So sorry Steve, google required technology updates (long over due) was what caused the main bugs although a change to HR+ was specifically to fix some HR+ issues other users were having. i reset your password. sending to you in pm

Any chance you can clarify what you mean? You had 100 target and it was stuck at 125?

I see the broken password page. This is due to the required technology change and I can see we never tested IOS password reset, works fine on android. I know this does not help you. Sucks.

Target set at 125bpm my hr was 115, Power would not increase…i did get my hr over my target over 125bpm by standing up and drinking then my power drop as normal but when my HR settled and went back down because of power drop the power would not increase because my hr would stick at what ever power i was pushing Below my Target HR

I had the same problem today.

HR+ target 127bpm

Power starts ramping nicely to start raising HR. As a guide, power range usually settles between 190 - 230 to maintain the 127 bpm target.

I see 170W flash up and HR by this stage is 111.

Then, the best way I can describe it, is it just gave up. Power dropped and fluctuated only between 100 and 130W and HR stayed way below target.

I did the usual stuff: press various arrows and mode changes; disconnect / reconnect trainer and HR strap; uninstall and reinstall app; power off and power on everything again.

Three attempts with the same result.

Do you guys just use quick start or using a specific workout with targets or anything?

I logged in to see your workout in the website and I don’t see it. Did you not save it?

Yesterday I did HR+ on the bike and it was perfect and here is emulator today. First I had hr target below hr and later raised it above. This emulator has fixed hr but I have others with raising hr.

We have some power limit protectors in place maybe some how they are kicking in for you guys incorrectly. It’s very strange.

Here is the limiter. Maybe we need to simplify the limiter but it is a relationship between hr target % and power.

Our tester also did multiple sessions on multiple trainers with no issue.

It’s almost more like this is problem if us controlling your trainer as compared to an HR+ problem.

Hi Gents,

i have the same issue.

Riding on Wahoo KickrCore and IOS26.

HR+ let me starve 5-9 bpm below target.

Ok, I think your problem is a bit different. Yours is that we made it -5% to 0%. You should just increase the target temporarily. This was a mistake, we will fix this next week so it’s -1%. It’s possible this is everyone’s issue but I don’t think so base on their descriptions. Please everyone press up on the HR target and see if that resolves the issue.

Because I only got a couple of minutes in, I didn’t stop or save the workout.

There was one still live that I just saved now.

I use this workout Trainer Day - Workout: HR+ Maffetone MAF

Prior to today, I last used it on 31 Oct at around 0900 UK time and it worked perfectly then.

I am currently on App version 8.3.1

Wattbike Atom v2

ipad with iOS 18.6.2

If you don’t mind could you try an ERG workout? To me it looks like we lost control of your trainer.

The workout I linked to has an ERG warmup and, even this morning, that worked perfectly as expected. It was only when it switched over to HR+ mode that it started to behave unexpectedly.

I will jump on now and see what happens if I raise the HR target. Watch this space!

OK, here is the result

https://app.trainerday.com/activities/690774924de33088cbb3991b

As you can see, the ERG warmup worked as it should

At the end of the ERG warmup, I am at 115 bpm and 188W

HR+ takes over and seems to be doing its thing for the first 30 seconds. At that point, I am at 122 bpm and 189W

But then, right on the 30 second mark, you will see that the power drops down to 101W and HR starts to fall. I carried it on for 1’20" or so and, in that time, raised the HR target to 142 bpm.

As you can see, the power doesn’t increase sufficiently to raise HR at all.

I see it, I see it. I see the bug!!! It’s something with the custom HR targets in a workout. We just test with quick start targets, it should work the same, obviously does not. Need to add that to our testing automation.

It also seems to work fine if the workout is hr+ only, meaning a single segment of hr 150 works but erg segment first does not. In my test if I change the target hr manually during the interval it also fixes the problem but this requires more testing to make 100% sure.

In the meantime, until it is fixed so that it works as it did in my workout on 31 Oct, if I just use quick start, I should be OK?

Do I need to change the duration of the quick start workout to ride for longer than 1h, or do I just keep pedalling until I am ready to stop (which will be 2h)?

3 options

  1. Yes quick start works fine (turn on auto-extend)
  2. Create 2 hour workout with single HR segment
  3. I also think your workout works fine if you press up/down on the arrows at the bottom after it gets to your HR+ section but I need to test this a couple more times.
