[SOLVED] - Interval end causes YouTube to pause

At the end of an interval, YouTube pauses.

Today was my first TD workout since 8 Aug and this is the first time this has happened.

At the end of every interval, the YouTube video I was watching paused. It could easily be restarted by tapping the screen and then tapping the play icon.

I run TD and YouTube apps split screen on an iPad Pro 13" M4 (MVX23NF/A) which is running iOS 18.6 (22G86)

You must be on beta version. I have this fixed and will be available today/tomrrow.

I encountered the same issue with the podcast app. It stops playing when the next interval is announced with the beeps. I am not using the beta version; the app was automatically updated from the App Store yesterday. However, if this is fixed already, it can be ignored and everything will be fine :grinning:

Check your version number at the bottom of the other settings page. Production version is 5.3.5 if you have 6.x.y then you are on beta  5.3.5 is months old and not updated. OH… let me check IOS to make sure.

Oh I see, somehow Apple automatically released 5.4.4… oh my… Ok new one is coming.

Yes, I just checked and I have 5.4.4 since “2d ago” according to the app store.

Same with Apple Music pause behaviour on interval change. Sounds like the fix is coming fast, so thanks in advance!

Same with Spotify today… new app stops music when there is a change of interval

It’s coming… just waiting on apple to approve it.

New build available and this is resolved.

There is a thread on the trainer road forum “Trainerroad intervals stops spotify”

Although the thread started in Feb 2024 and went quiet in Jul 2024 (indicating the issue was resolved?), there is post on there today (Sep 2025) from a user experiencing the same issue.

Will TR fix it as quickly as TD did?

Nice, yes I always think TR app is “perfect UX” but then I see they have many of the same issues as us. I saw some big rant about how the website and app are different after 7 years of complaints and I felt a lot better. I know their AI is very questionable… It can work ok for the majority of their users but it’s far from actual AI.

I’m a paid up TR member since Sep 2018. The development since then has been broadly good. But, as you point out, there are some issues that have been hanging around for years that have never been fixed.

The AI FTP seems to work well for me. I don’t use the adaptive plans, so can’t comment on that.

There are quite a few examples on the forum where people complain about TR being bad, but then a TR staffer shows up with an analysis of the complainer’s account that shows poor compliance with the plan etc. that is the real cause of their issue. The most recent, from 4 Sep 2025 is in a thread titled “Goodbye to TR - no motivation to renew subscription”

I have legacy pricing, which makes it very good value for me. Although I see there is value there for a lot of cyclists, I would not take out a new subscription at the current price ($209.99/year or $21.99/month).

Yes, I think TR is good for some (many) people for sure. And I think it is a good product. AI FTP is probably fine, not likely AI just some rules with some basics similar to other “AI” FTPs… I just see all the adaptive stuff and question it, although again good for some/many/most?

My biggest struggle is with FTP in general is it drives many people to consistent hard work. It’s great for setting training intensities though. FTP obsession is kind of like Garmin’s advice. It’s not all bad, it’s just not the best advice for many…

I can say TR does not launch stuff that 10-20% of their users have a serious problem like we have done lately. We will not be doing this anytime soon again
