[SOLVED] - iOS app crashing when phone rotated

Hey Alex…
Just another small issue.

When you have the app open on the phone and the phone is in portrait mode whilst using airplay to the Apple TV.
Select the workout…
Rotate the screen to landscape still whilst in airplay to the TV.

The app crashes every time.

I’ve had it work if you open the app whilst in landscape orientation then connect it to the Apple TV.

It also works ok if you are not using airplay to the apple TV. (Just tested it)

So I think the issue is going from Portrait to Landscape whilst connected to the Apple TV via Airplay.

Any questions just ask as Im not sure if that makes any sense

Ok, yes we never test airplay we will check it out. Glad you found a work around but hopefully it’s an easy fix.

I’m having the same issue. When I connect my iPhone via USB-C cable to HDMI to my TV and I try to switch landscape orientation, the app crashes. I have gotten it to work at times in landscape mode, don’t remember if this required me to put it in landscape mode first and then connect it to the TV, or some other trick like that.

We are looking at this now to see if we can figure it out. I was able to just get it to crash as well so it should be fixable.

Hey Alex…

Any progress on this? Only it’s taking 7-8 times to get it to work each time we do a session. A bit frustrating.

Thanks
James

Yes, we are working on it now and believe we will have a fix in a week or so. It’s kind of complicated because it’s not our bug but a library we are using so we must change technologies. But we are testing and it seems good for us.

Ok new build should be out today with the fix. Just waiting for Apple to approve it.

Ah brilliant Alex…

What version has the fix? Just so I know I’m running the latest…

Appreciated Alex… top stuff
James

5.1.0 and it just released a few minutes ago.

Hey Alex…
We’ve just tried the new release and unfortunately its not working properly now. This is what we are getting when connected to the apple TV…

We’ve tried both my iPhone and Helens iPhone and both have the same result. The app doesn’t crash it just doesn’t show any of the workout graphic as you can see.

Is there a way to roll back to the previous version?

Cheers
James

Oh sorry, we can fix that. So this is using airplay?

Oh I was able to duplicate this on my mac. If I first rotate the screen then connect with air play it is fine, but if I rotate while connected to airplay I see this. We will get this fixed ASAP but their is a work around for now. I was only able to make it happen 1 time then it worked correctly after that though.

Hey Alex…
Ah ok. As soon as Helen finishes her session I’ll see if we can make it work as you’ve mentioned for now.
Helen tried it a couple of times but we’ll see shortly.

Will let you know!!

Thanks Alex!!!

Oh my tester has a smaller phone and this happens to his small phone every time when using airplay but for me it just happens randomly and not very often. Since we can duplicate it, it should not be too hard to fix.
