I have an old Galaxy Tab S3 that is running Android 9 that I have been using for workouts. With the recent updates, I have not been able to connect to my HR monitor or trainer any more. On the page to start the ride, there is the “enable” button under the Bluetooth heading, tapping that does nothing. If I pull up the devices adding page, it has a button to “enable Bluetooth scanning”, tapping that changes to say “requesting permissions” but no pop-up comes up. I did confirm that I’ve granted all permissions to the app. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry, we have not tested Android 9… You could try going into app permissions in android settings and granting bluetooth permissions. We will try to test this soon and see if we can’t find an easy fix.
I just checked with the team and we don’t have any Android 9 device to test on and emulators don’t support bluetooth so it’s going to be hard to fix since we won’t know when it is working.
That’s too bad! Do you have a sense for what I should look for as the minimum tested Android version if I go looking for a newer second-hand tablet? Depending on the price of of a newer device, I’d be open to sponsoring an old device for the team to have for development. Let me know if you’d be open to that, but I totally understand not wanting to take on the support burden there.
Yeah sorry. For sure we will support 11. I have a Galaxy Tab A running A11 and it for sure works. Pretty slow but acceptable.
I did also check that all the permissions are enabled on the tablet (body sensors, contacts, location, microphone, and storage). On my phone, I do see a “nearby devices” permission, which is not present on the tablet.
So, I should have asked. Did you clear all cached, delete data, uninstall and reinstall? We simplified our permissions so it does not need this near by any more? I really think it should work on your A9.
Ah! That worked! Thanks so much, I should have tried that sooner, haha
Yeah!!! I start forgetting to ask.
