Hi,
I’m having problems with controlling my trainer via the app.
There a few distinct issues:
when “successfully” controlling the trainer in erg mode, the power is not stable. it keeps dropping from the current target, maybe to the first target in the workout or maybe to some default value
sometimes it seems to control the trainer just fine with consistent power, but the trainer stays at ~90% of the target
sometimes the app seems to not control the trainer at all. force-closing the app doesn’t help. restarting the trainer usually does. sometimes it resolves on its own after a minute or two
The trainer’s firmware is up to date. My phone is a Xiaomi/android.
Hopefully someone can help me make the app useful again.
Thanks in advance.
A few victory owners mentioned issues and a few others with no problems. It’s possible the ones without problems are IOS users. Originally we had a problem with victory as this device is different than most in that it pretends it is a heart rate monitor. One thing to make sure is you don’t have any Ant+ or other apps or devices possibly connecting. No Garmin bike computer. Also maybe try our desktop app if you can.
I have a victory too, but i have not used it yet since they sent it back to me after repairs. They said they were not able to repair it so just went ahead and sent me a new one. I went ahead and got a wahoo kickr core v1 over black Friday last year while the JBV was away and haven’t set the “new” victory up yet. Since I have been having what seems like a similar issue with my kickr core v1 lately since mid June, and you and another user have reported similar issues, I’m going to set it up this week and test it out.
From what I can tell the JBV and the kickr core are very similar. I think wahoo even sued for patent infringement at one point as it was so similar. JB went back and changed the fly wheel to a fly “disc” is I believe how they solved the issue. Wahoo later came out with the V2 which also included Wifi like the JBV, so whatever issue I’m having with the kickr core v1, might also be a similar issue with the JBV.
Is what you’re describing similar power graphs I posted here, “Wild power fluctuations all of a sudden in erg mode? Kickr V5” (sorry forum won’t allow me to use links to forum post).
So strange. We have about 10,000 users and only a few reporting issues but I also know there is some magic trick we are missing for a combination of some device + trainer. I assume now Ant+ connected, not Garmin computer for example.
Tried both my Victory and Kickr Core V1, same issues with both. So no resolution. Seems its not just isolated to one brand.
I also have my wahoo head unit dual recording but not controlling the trainer. This is how I’ve been set up since I started with TD in 2024, but the issue only started on June 18, 2026. Everything was fine on June 17.
You are IOS? Do you have any Android devices? I will set up my Kickr V5 and see if I can replicate this. Any chance you could try a bit without the garmin connected?
Are you willing to work with my developer for a small amount of time on this?
Whatever you guys did yesterday seems to have fixed the issue I was having with both my trainers. I did a workout on the Victory last night and it worked as expected. Held constant power in ERG mode the whole ride.
We did not change the desktop app and today we have new Android version in last few hours. I really think this is wireless interference but our app just was handling it poorly. Anyway happy to hear it all went well.
No issues with the Victory and no power fluctuations since I reported all was good a week ago. Issue seems resolved. Whether is was on my end or TD’s, it doesn’t matter anymore. I have not checked the Kickr yet, but I expect the same.
