When I start my TrainingPeaks imported WOD, it always starts in Erg. I prefer to use Slope, so I switch it over right at the beginning. However, if I forget, and I’ve started pedaling, it often won’t switch Slope on properly and it acts like I’m in a 30/44 or something with almost no resistance on the pedals even in my hardest gear and with a high slope %. To fix this, I have to kill the app, stop the trainer, reopen TrainerDay, restart the workout, and switch to Slope before I pedal. Even this doesn’t always work properly and sometimes I have to do this multiple times before it recognizes Slope. Am I doing something wrong or is there an easier way?
TrainerDay running on iPad app connected to Tacx Neo OG.
Hello, sorry I have to ask. There is another “famous” pbase that is active on a popular cycling forum is that you by chance? You don’t have to answer Anyway no this sounds like a bug or issue. Can you repeat this easily, meaning if you worked with my developer and he was reviewing logs in real time could he see this in a reasonable amount of time?
Do you happen to have an Android device you can test on? I have a Neo but my bike is getting repaired (cracked frame) and don’t know how to mount my wheel through MTB or Bmx on the Neo 2T to see if I can duplicate. I can and probably should give my Neo to my tester but this might be specific to your trainer or the OG version (I assume the OG is the original Neo). While I don’t like my Wahoo any more than Neo, I test and end up using the kickr. Easier to set it up is why and I am lazy.
Cool, one of my great friends is Chad Mc… also So I am mostly a lurker there but I see you very involved and providing solid info (just light observation, not paying that much attention to you). My username is AllFunCyclist. I don’t comment much and attempt not to spam TD there but you and I were on a thread together about TD a while back.
Ok yes, my tester will come get the Neo next week and see if we can duplicate this also. Neo uses that FEC over BLE and so it does not get as much love/attention as FTMS from us.
Just have them reach out to me whenever they’re ready. I was able to produce it twice this morning and then not the 3rd time, so it should be pretty easy to test together.
Ok my app developer is going on vacation soon so we should do this ASAP. I will send you private message. Also I really like to support the “slope moders,” so I will try to prioritize a setting so that it defaults to slope mode. Yeah Chad and I are both sim racers also so we talk a lot
One more question. So rather than a setting (I love to avoid more settings). What if a new workout defaults to the same mode you ended the last workout in. Does that solve your issue? I know there are more and more slope moders and I believe most stay in slope mode the whole time so this should work well. So if a person builds a custom workout in our platform then it can set it to start with slope mode but in your case with WOD, that won’t work… So if the workout does not specify it (like WOD workouts) we could just start with your last session.
Hey Alex, that would be awesome. It would help avoid testing and coordinating too. I’m in no rush (it only takes a few seconds to restart until it kicks in), so would just be happy to know it’s on the list.
