I recently ran across this app, which can be used as a “sync hub” between all the various services. On iOS, I can manually share an activity record to HealthFit, but it would be nice if it happened automatically.
Yep, it’sa nice and very effective one, I use it a lot for syncing unsyncable.
Which app? This one? Interesting I completely missed Adam’s original message.
I want better syncing so I would like to understand this suggestion.
Alex–that’s the one.
Exactly this one.
My current workflow is as follows:
- doing a workout with TrainerDay on my iPad
- open TrainerDay on my iPhone
- select last training and export the .fit file to HealthFit to import the training in apple health
Of course a shorter sequence would be much appreciated!
We added a direct save to heathkit and a huge number of users were getting errors so we turned it off. But I believe if you use rungap app it will automatically sync. I think the cost is 5$/year. Also Strava might automatically sync to apple health but not sure about that.
Hi Alex
First: Thank you for developing this amazing app, exactly what I was looking for to train indoors now winter is coming up.
There is just one thing missing from becoming the perfect app for my use case: Sync to HealthFit (or Apple Health).
HealthFit: I have grown to love HealthFit and use it as my primary fitness app, namely due to the possibility to geek out with a ton of fantastic statistics (screenshots of this link above provide a first glimpse; I’m happy to provide you additional screenshots). It integrates seamlessly with Apple Health (both read/write workouts and other metrics). Furthermore - the developer doesn’t collect any data. Last but not least, it integrates with several popular Fitness Platforms (incl. Strava, Komoot, Ride with GPS, Suunto, TrainingPeaks, 2PEAK). Therefore, I assume the developer of HealthFit might be open to syncing with TrainerDay. His contact details are healthfit@altifondo.com. Besides allowing an additional feature I think both apps (and thus you as their developers) might profit from the mutual publicity of providing the integration to each others app.
Downsides of RunGap: In several posts you’ve mentioned RunGap as a solution for automatically sync to apple health. I’ve tried it myself and found three disadvantages. Namely (i) it doesn’t sync the power output properly to apple health which leads to HealthFit not showing vital power graphs, (ii) it collect usage data using Google Analytics and (iii) it currently costs $15 per year/$5 per 3 months. Especially in combination, due to these disadvantages I currently prefer the manual workflow jbox mentioned earlier in this thread over using RunGap.
The combination of TrainerDay (to structure and log my workouts) and HealthFit (to further analyse my workouts and overall fitness/progress) incl. automatic syncing would be a dream come true.
If I can assist in any way, please let me know.
Cool, thanks so much. I will contact him. I will have to try healthfit some time.
