Unexplained Spikes in Displayed RPM on Tacx trainers

Hi Alex,

My wife and I have recently noticed stronger fluctuations in the displayed cadence during our training sessions, both with the current App Store version and with the beta version 8.02.

For example, in my case, the displayed RPM sometimes jumps from around 90 suddenly up to as much as 10% higher, without any noticeable change in my pedaling, and then immediately drops back to the original value. Similar drops also occur, but less frequently.

For my wife, the deviations are even larger — she occasionally sees RPM readings of 150 or more, even though she’s actually pedaling at a cadence of about 85–90. The intervals between these spikes are irregular, but they occur roughly once per minute on average.

These RPM spikes don’t seem to have any visible effect on the training itself or on the displayed or perceived power output.

My wife and I are both using an iPad running iPadOS 26, along with a Tacx Neo (my wife) and a Tacx Neo 2T (myself).

I have a 2T, I will test it and see if I can see this. We did a bunch of “radical” RPM stuff lately so likely caused a bug. It’s possible this is more accurate to what is coming from the trainer but we and others have better filtering. But let me test and figure it out. That should be very easy to replicate since I have a 2T (obviously don’t use it enough…). I have older bike on 2T and newer on Wahoo, so I choose to test Wahoo more

Perfect. If you need training records - especially from my wife’s Tacx Neo I, which has much higher peak values - just let me know.
