Work out names & ALL CAPS

Hello! TrainerRoad convert! I’m enjoying the app. Thank you!
Two requests actually;

  1. title workouts simply & without indicating difficulty, zone, time, etc. I liked that TR would shove my workouts into Strava with the simple, meaningless names they gave the workout. If people want to look at my workout and figure what I did, god bless. I’d prefer no workout detail in the title (no one cares that I’m doing a VO2Max workout and I don’t care to tell them). I know I can rename them in Strava; that’s tedious
  2. ALL CAPS. Maybe DONT put workout names in all caps. Not sure there’s a point and it irritates people to think they’re being shouted at (to be fair, those same people usually have a LONG list of things that irritate them :blush:)

Great app! Love it!

Thanks happy to have you.

When you hit save in our app, you can rename it, so I guess you are suggesting an easy way to clear the name or default the name to blank.

We don’t normally have all caps, where are you seeing this? Do you mean from user created workouts?

Thank you Alex. I get you (one) can rename apps on save. That’s helpful but tedious. I’ve decided I’ll rename them as harry potter novels, then John Le Carre novels, then state names. That’s my plan. Not that I’m really convinced anyone gives a hang what I do on my trainer, I just dont want any description going up on strava with some indication of the effort. Neurotic? Probably.

I’m seeing now that the workouts that show up as “recommended” can be user generated. I didn’t know that. I did a workout on Dec 3 called “DYNAMIC FORCE” and one on Dec 5 called “ZEUS.” Both all caps. I can’t tell now if they were user contributed.

But I understand now that if I choose a workout that’s been contributed by someone else, they have control over the title (not TD.) Fine. If I don’t like it, it’s on me to change it. Knowing that this gives me a bigger pond to fish in, I’m totally ok with the tedium of making my own changes . . . and, frankly, it’ll probably be fun for me to have some naming conventions . . . i suspect that the naming game might be infinitely more interesting to my bike-nerd-pals than just a description that i did something :slight_smile:

If you are grabbing workouts from our library they are all user created, we created a very few number there, not very likely you would run into them, you can see their user name as the contributor at least on the website.

These guys will automatically rename your rides for free. I should have mentioned that before. They just do funny names. Like “Honey, I forgot the milk” or something.

I should say I like your naming idea. Really it would be a cool to add something like this or like bandok does. You can use chatGPT to create 500 funny workout names based on XYZ…

I’m so glad you mentioned Bandok, Alex. Their sarcasm and cynicism isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I happen to love most of the titles they come up with.

Yes, I don’t know why I turned it off. I think I did not like seeing the link in there, but now strava strips it out anyway. I have stopped uploading stuff to strava lately but come outdoor season I will likely start again.
