Hi guys! I train on a Tacx Neo indoor Bike and use my Garmin 1030 to record the sessions and import them straightaway into Garmin connect.
The only thing that does not work is the distance export. E.g. when I ride a 30km ride, the Garmin will always register much less, (like 12-15 or so). So after every training I have to edit the session in Connect and correct the distance.
While it is not the end of the world, it would be nice if there was a solution to this.
So this is not a problem with trainer day. This is actually just a problem with Garmin. 1030/garmin connect. If you were using our app, our app would be a lot more accurate. So the problem is is the way that the garmin 1030 records your distance is based on your flywheel speed. In ERG mode, you can change gears, which changes your flywheel speed, but there’s still the same power. So this means that flywheel speed can be grossly off of actual speed or simulated speed. Obviously actual speed is zero. So we do it differently in our app. We convert power to estimated speed and distance based on close to flat ground. We also have an adjustment factor you can use in our app.
It’s possible just shifting gears would solve your problem temporarily. But this will just keep coming back.
