"Hello everyone, after several setbacks and a significant injury, this year I was only able to participate in one competition. I wanted to start following a new 6-month training plan. What do you recommend? Should I create a plan with JACK or set everything up manually myself?
“My main goal is to be as competitive as possible in the granfondo mountain bike races.”
Now that I have a clearer idea of your focus, I can help you tailor a 6-month plan specifically for that goal, combining endurance, strength, and recovery for maximum performance. Would you like some help with that?
Unless have a particular reason / desire to set up your own plan, I would say that creating a plan using the Coach Jack Plan Builder is a good idea.
Even if you do have a particular reason / desire to set up your own plan, you can create a plan with the Coach Jack Plan Builder and take a look at it. You don’t have to use it and you might see something in there that you decide to incorporate into your manual plan.
Yes, I agree completely. Just pick a date 6-months in the future and that should be a good plan. Overal we believe strongly in periodization as the default people should do but if you need something more to motivate you then we need to understand more details. I always suggest fun as the first priority, especially if you need motivation. But health second and finally performance. All of these things work in that order if you get them right. And a fun/health first approach will beat most performance first approaches in the long run.
