Hi Community!
I’m looking for guidance, as I was not abale to find a fit between coach Jack and workouts.
I’m 60 and because of osteoarthrosis, I need to increase my legs muscles, without stressing too much my knees (i.e. no slow cadence/heavy load pedaling).
I’m committed to train upto 4 times per week, 45min max each session. In the last three months I trained 2h per week on average, FTP 180.
Ideally I’m looking at a plan of 3-4 months, possibly to be repeated at a higher intensity, to keep building muscles.
I understand that in principle I could do whatever I want with “custom plan” in coach Jack, but I’ve no skills on how to structure a plan addressing my needs… Ideas/siggestions?
Why not just use a coach jack default plan? You don’t need any skills for CJ custom plans. Just pick 3 workouts that sounds good. But you also can just pick polarized or crunch power for example. If you want something harder just increase the intensity.
Since you don’t have any serious performance goals it’s about fun, motivation and health. So we should pick 3 workouts that are fun. Usually 2 days a week of structure and 2 days a week of zone 2 or something is a good idea from both a health and performance perspective.
Sorry I should say for Coach Jack just answer the questions. It’s basic questions like Do you have any injuries… It’s zero skills. When you said custom I thought you meant something else. We also have a custom feature in Coach Jack.
thanks for the kind reply. I also read the announcement 3d on the last CJ version. My catch is the “best practice” in various training (by and large) tend to be an increase in time/single-sessions as a plan progress. That is perfectly fine.
My aim though is to keep single session duration topped, and rather increase intensity. My limit, I agree, but indoor after 45min max I get bored.
I am with you 45 minutes is a good limit Don’t get board. We do increase intensity as well but do it in a way that follows more of a nature of natural progressions not an arbitrary TSS/stress focus.
