Not possible yet, we need to add this functionality. This is not our plans in this case it is open ai suggesting the plan, we are just converting the plan to workouts. For sure ai could do this if we supported it.
I asked chatgpt these questions
- tell me about trainerday hr+
- suggest some workout structures that would make best use of the trainerday HR+ function
- show me a HR Tempo Cruise Intervals (Metabolic Conditioning) progressive overload plan that is 6 weeks duration with 3 tempo cruise workouts per week please
- yes please, my HRmax is 181
here is the first workout in the TrainerDay format
I am not convinced that is the right format.
No we dont have a format for hr+ other than the editor⦠this llm builder does not support hr+, we would have to build something⦠but it should be more generic of a request if we did do it, meaning you say I want some days heart rate based and we give instructions to ai of the format. You can create a feature request for that and if people are exited we could build it. Might be too niche at this point.
You could take a screenshot and tell it to create you a csv you open in excel and copy and paste but that is just a single workout
A post was split to a new topic: Please add HR+ to training plans
Hi Alex,
Is this really something someone wants to use? Iāve tried it several times for fun on other platforms, and today Iāve tried it three times with your AI Plan Builder, and the results were not usable. It ends up, that you have to fine tune your prompt to get that result you want. I donāt want to ātalkā to an chatbot over and over again.
First I wanted a Base plan for 10 weeks. I said, start with 7h/week and end with 10h/week. But the weekly duration was all over the place (starting with 10h up to 13h or 14h). Always much too high. The workouts were ok. Boring and always the same intensity, but at least they were Endurance workouts. I then said, ok start a new plan and create a peak plan for a century in the alps with big climbs. It changed the names of the workouts, and that was it. They were literally the same workouts.
Third try was a āClean Planā and start over, the prompt was
Create a 26-week plan with the phases Base, Build, and Peak. Start with 7 hours of training per week in Week 1. Finish with 15 hours per week shortly before the event. The event is an Alpine cycling marathon with four long climbs, each lasting 90m to 150m. I want to train on any 5 days per week. Long sessions should be planned for the weekend.
It created an 8 week plan with a mixture of Base, Sweetspot, Vo2max and a long session. No recovery week at all. No tapering. And as I said only 8 weeks and not 26. I gave up. In the same time I would have created 10 plans with exact my wishes with Coach Jack ![]()
So maybe I am not āpromptingā correct. While I see the sense of LLM in creating lots of text in short time, so maybe it could produce many workouts in short time. But probably you have to use so many ārulesā in the background, that you are programming the boundaries of Coach Jack again into that Chatbot, so that it produces correct stuff.
And I had a ātargetā plan in my head. What is with those users who have no idea of training and follow this 8 week plan, with VO2max, Sweetspot AND long endurance session per week with no recovery week at all? It looked not too intense, but nevertheless I wouldnāt recommend such a plan to anyone.
Instead of creating just another āAIā training plan generator, here is what I would say could be way more beneficial, because it would create solid results:
Use the LLM to generate inputs to Coach Jack. I put in the prompt to this Chatbot, and you use this to get the described boundaries. The LLM shall not create workouts. The LLM shall create inputs for Coach Jack.
We like CJ plans but many people come here with an idea of exactly what they want and that is not what CJ prescribes. This LLM builder can bridge that gap. It should still say beta at the top, itās working ok if you know what you want.
We are busy working on improving it and just about to launch a better version including example prompts, which include using coach jack in the prompt and it will build a plan using CJ sequences and more of CJ rules. So most AI plans are just rules not AI, this is true LLM plans which we know LLMs provide some bad advice, we will continue to try to guild the LLM in the right direction.
We need to validate the results, but sending lots of prompts to an LLM gets very slow and expensive for plan creation. But for sure this is very beta so sorry for wasting your time⦠Your feedback is valuable, this will be a lot better soon.
Yeah, I had also something in my mind, but the LLM didnāt prescribed it either. ![]()
I know lots of apps doing these fancy āAIā stuff, but I wonder if thatās really useful in that case. Either you set many rules, and itās awful slow, and not very creative, or less rules and it creates just nonsense.
At the end the biggest winner will be OpenAI, Google, or how they are all called ⦠If it once gets too expensive, I have no problem with removing this feature again. Just want to say that, I still think itās over the top to use LLM for simple workout creations. ![]()
Yes, the problem is we have our way, the CJ way, but we believe more in people doing it their way if they feel like. We will let the LLM do it your way with CJ which should be good. Yes, the current LLM implementation is only good for specific cases. I want these intervals for these weeks or something. But as I said you will see it get better very soon.
I donāt think LLMs are really winning, in that they are spending a lot more than they are making, only thing keeping them afloat is unrealistic speculation⦠But just like electric cars, even if they are bad for the environment at first eventually things get better. Still not sure if electric cars are better for the environment but I do believe they will be if we can get more clean(er) energy.
I am not able to find the feature. I am using edge browser on an iPad Pro.
Sorry we deployed new version and found some serious issues. Coming next week.
Ok. Thanks
I didnāt have great results using the built in AI but giving the Trainer Day plan JSON to Claude and asking it to use that as a template worked much better.
I told it exactly which days and how much time I have on those days. Then I gave it a few CJ rides that I liked and told it to make variations of those.
Initial Prompt:
Using the attached json file as a template, create a 4 week cycling plan that matches these criteria. The plan should progressively get more difficult but week 4 should be 25% easier than the week before.
Monday
- Rest day
Tuesday
- Rest day
Wednesday
- 30 minute warm up ride
- Includes a 5 minute warm up and cool down at 40%
- A 7 minute interval at 65%, a 6 minute interval at 75%, and a 7 minute interval at 65%
Thursday
- 30 minute HIIT ride
- Includes a 5 minute warm up and cool down at 40%
- Multiple short periods over 100% but not exceeding 150%
- Be sure to add rest periods at 40%
Friday
- 1 hour sweet spot ride
- First 15 minutes should be a climbing warmup starting at 40% and ending at 100%.
- 5 minute cooldown at 40%
Saturday
- 1 hour endurance ride
- Should not be too difficult but should feel tired at the end
- First 15 minutes should be a climbing warmup starting at 40% and ending at 100%.
- 5 minute cooldown at 40%
Sunday
- 1 hour VO2 MAX ride
- First 15 minutes should be a climbing warmup starting at 40% and ending at 100%.
- 5 minute cooldown at 40%
Updating plans to use CJ rides
Change the HIIT ride on Thursday to have a similar shape to the attached workout but keep the current duration and warmup/cooldown. Look between 16.25@60% and 35@65%.
I am by no means an athlete or even a decent cyclist, I just do this for fun. Take all this with a grain of salt.
Ciao,
Any idea when AI plan builder will be back live?
thanks
My developer believes he is very close but we still need to test it, and it seems easy to find serious issues so might require more development. I really hope itās next week. The holidays slowed this down.
Ok itās back and a lot better but still needs more work to make it better. Might take a bit of trial and error. You can now reference coach jack and should get CJ sequences.
I feel like the Coach Jack builder more, the prompts are less intuitive to me. The fine tuning options really help as Iām picking haha
Yes, what we should do is allow you to create a Coach Jack plan and then potentially fine-tune it in AI. Coach Jack is for sure our recommended plans. Itās just some people want things their way, not our way which is totally fine as well.
Would it be possible to provide the json schema again? Before the update I had a plan that I liked but the json I used to create it no longer works.
