Please add Ant+ support (COMPLETED)

Tab S7 is not on the list above. Most newer devices don’t have Ant+

You should only select one or the other, not both  It should show two different devices, and you choose the one you want. Ant+ or BLE. But if you selected both I am not sure which would get priority.

Ha! It works even on the Android x86 virtual machine

That must be with an Ant+ USB device? What device do you have? This is very interesting.

At the the end of the day Ant+ does not work on my A50, though TR does. The A50 has a ANT+ sensor  , but it works on my older J5 (at least the HRM). Will try it the trainer and cadence later this evening with my J5.

Ok next week if you want to meet with my developer and we can do a debug session to figure out what is going on with your A50 if you want. If you want to wait we are also going to fix it so external Ant+ sensors work and that might fix your issue.

Just contact me a support@trainerday.com if you want.

Also just checking, did you uninstall and reinstall our app? One user said that fixed his issue.

Yes, this is USB dongle from Wahoo (i bought at Decathlon) but it looks like any other Chinese ANT+ device and the driver is generic.

You need also to install freeware ant+ support from Google Play

I cannot believe i missed this thread. I thought ant+ was not going to be supported. Well, i installed the beta last night on my xaomi M1 phone taht i only use on wifi. i have an iphone for mobile. I connected my tacx ant+ dongle to it and this morning, i turned off BT on the phone and powered my 4iiii flight trainer. trainer day found my trainer and my polar.

will test it tomorrow as it is my riding day.

Oh cool. We tried a Ant+ dongle and it did not work. Great to hear it is working for some devices.

So you mean you had to install this?

i have 3 apps installed on my phone to have the ant+ dongle working i guess. i did that a long time ago when i was using zwift. they are : ant radio service, ant usb service and ant+ plugins service. not sure if i need all of them though

Yes. Because otherwise android can’t use ANT+

You could also install “ANTTester” that will confirm or not if you have the required elements installed.

Yes we have been testing more and learning more about Ant+ too, but being iOS users for the most part we are basically Ant+ technology beginners.

We see that some phones/tablets say Missing Ant+ HUD (you can see this in the Ant Tester App)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quantrity.anttester&hl=en_US&gl=US

and there are many articles on this. This is on the new phones not supporting Ant+ in most cases. Also this can happen when users upgraded From A10 to A11 and then Ant+ stopped working (I would assume A12 has this problem too). And some people fixed it by buying an OTG USB cable to plug there device into (at least that is how it sounded). I found this on a YT video also.

So i am using the tacx dongle on my xaiomi M1 phone. Before the ride this morning, i had the smart trainer, cycling power and polar h10 connected and paired i think but when i started riding, i had no heart rate. I noticed that only the smart trainer was connected and paired so i am getting power and cadence. very smooth ride. I had stopped using the android under BT as the power would fluctuate and i blame it on the BT stack. I disconnected the polar and reconnected it but it would not do it.

it would say paired but not connected. I could turn BT back on and connect via BT. I also have to add that i have my garmin taht is also connected to the smart trainer, cycling power and H10 via ant+. But i am very pleased with the outcome. Great job.

Thanks Pierre yes it appears this beta is a true beta. We started finding some issues today as well. Thanks for your update. The next beta will be better.

Hi Alex/all,

Just some info from my perspective.
For me I have 2.7.14 installed and it won’t find anything.
Samsung Galaxy S10e.
Already had the 3 ANT apps installed (ANT radio service, ANT usb service and ANT+ plugins service)
ANTTester app shows everything green.
TR finds Garmin HR strap (older strap) and Garmin Vector pedals.

Other things I’ve tried:

  • Re-installing the beta app (4/5 times)
    • When installed it doesn’t say beta anywhere in the app so not 100% sure it’s the beta.
    • App title doesn’t have beta in the name etc.
    • Google Play says beta and I’m enrolled.
  • Clearing cache and data for the app
  • Turning Bluetooth off while searching

Things to try:

  • Short the HR battery connections (already works in TR though)
  • Will try USB C male to USB A female cable as I already have a couple and I have a Garmin ANT+ dongle

Look forward to the next version.

Thanks

Hi there, thanks for the detailed feedback. This is the first I have heard of all positive in Ant Tester and it still not working (after your reinstalls).

Yes you have beta with 2.7.14 Do you have any willingness to work with my developer for a short troubleshooting session to see if we can resolve this quickly that way? It’s much harder (almost impossible) for us to fix issues that we can’t reproduce.

We have not tried any external dongles ourselves other than with a phone that does not support Ant+. You can contact me a support@trainerday.com if you are willing.

Ok ABu confirmed that our new version resolves his issue which we are hopeful will resolve most or all issues  This version should be available for Beta users today 2.7.16
