[SOLVED] - No ERG with Tacx Neo 1

Android 15
Samsung Tab S9+

App version: 6.7.7

Every time I do a workout, it’ll run for 10-20 seconds and then crash. I even restarted the device. Happened 5 times before I finally gave up

Sorry to hear. It’s likely permissions issue. See below. And you might want to re-install

New version of app is out today. This might resolve it as well.

I’ll try that, but why does it need location permission at all? It’s just executing a workout for my trainer. There’s no virtual world or anything.

Also I just checked and it has the permission allowed, so that’s not the issue. But again, can you please explain why it needs it?

Because of bluetooth a person can be triangulated to their exact location so google requires users accept we could know your exact location because of bluetooth. It has nothing to do with us specifically. I am sure ChatGPT could explain it much better than I. Also look at other values. One user turned on body sensors as well. Reinstall might be the solution.

so, the new version does fix the crashing, but now it doesn’t properly set the Watts on the trainer. I just did a workout for zone 2 from training Peaks and no matter how many times I tried quitting and restarting and retrying it always set the Watts at exactly the same, about 84 watts. I even tried clicking the up and down arrows and nothing affected it.

I ended up using training Peaks virtual and that was able to do it correctly so I know there’s no problem with the workout.

What trainer do you have?

Tacx Neo 1

That is what I suspected. That uses an old protocol that must have gotten broken. We don’t have any of these devices to test on but we will find a solution. Sorry about that. I used to have a Neo 1. I should have kept it.

I should say, we are fixing this now. It won’t be in today’s build but should be fixed very soon and we will add this to our automated tests so it should not break again.

Thank you that is amazing! Please let me know which version fixes it, thanks.

Yes, I have it fixed. I will let you know when it is available. I don’t have Neo to make 100% sure but I have neo 1 emulator that should prove it is working.

Android is approved. Apple might be tomorrow. We still have some performance issues to address but this should be better.

Apple is ready

The new version of Android is finally ready. I think this was fixed a while ago but if not todays update should definitly fix it. Re-install if it’s not. It really should work.

Thanks, just checking it’s version 7.1.5? I’ll give that a go

Please reopen this, it didn’t fix it. I can DM you the ride but it didn’t change the wattage across the intervals. I unfortunately will have to stop using this great app if we can’t get this fixed. :disappointed:

Tell me how to get you the ride and you can look. I stopped the ride after it didn’t work but saved it.

I did the same exact workout on TrainingPeaks Virtual after and it worked perfectly.

Hi sorry to hear. Did you try reinstalling our app? I will re-open this and keep working on this.

Do you happen to have another phone or device you could test on? My belief is it should work (other Neo users including myself it works) it’s that Android has some strange cached settings somewhere.

Here is what AI suggested

Clear Bluetooth cache
Settings > Apps > Bluetooth > Storage > Clear Cache
