Trust the app when not training

Hi Forum!
Pretty new to trainerday app, I’m sorry if below question have been unswered one zillion times

I used the app during winter more or less training on the last 3 months 3h per week, 1h max each session (then pain on the saddle turns too strong … :frowning:

Now with good season I’m not so regular anymore, I’m down to 1 or 2 hour per week max.

I the stopped using planned training plans, I just tap the app, and run for one hour what the app proposes to me.

Am I right if I assume the app suggests what would be good for me based on my age/weight/FTP/training history? Is the app considering all those factors?

Thanks in advance for chiming in.

Ciao

Hi, you said “run for one hour,” I assume you mean ride. And no our app is not very smart. I will produce a good plan but is not dynamic, the daily suggestions are more just reasonable suggestions based on what you have done lately, something popular and similar intensity with some variety. We are working on some AI training that will improve this, which factors in more personal data and your goals.

Thank you Alex, yes you’re correct I meant “ride”. As I usually have “scattered” sessions during the nice seasons (spring/summer/autumn), do you have some suggestions/rule-of-thumb how should I approach “training”? The only constraint is the one hour duration max.

Should I may be always have an “endurance” session as I find time, and have a FTP once per month to have a reasonable updated number in my profile for the app? I guess that with such approach my FTP is doomed to (quickly) fall …

Thanks for you thoughts!

Cheers

Without any specific goals, let’s say health and feeling good is the highest priority. Endurance tends to be maximum value in this case. If you go from 10 hours a week to 3 hours a week you will likely lost some FTP but mostly for 3 hours a week of 1 hour each you will keep most or almost all of your aerobic performance but FTP test you will do worse because your body won’t be as prepared for hard work but you can get any losses in this test and hard work back in 3-4 weeks in most cases. So just doing endurance workouts with a bit of intensity based on how you feel is actually a fine approach, in some cases you might even get stronger.
