I am interested in the general direction TD might take rather than specific feature requests.
Thoughts anyone?

This is a good question… Short term we are going deep in running workouts and plans. It’s coming very soon. We have lots of other crazy ideas… but don’t like to talk too far out as things can drastically change and don’t need to tell the world all these crazy (and brilliant
) ideas too far in advance…
I was hoping you were going to say ‘running’, it is currently a massive market if you can tap into it. Then everyone gains, more income, more growth, the more development you could potentially put in to cycling and multi-sport, the next project etc.
There is a gap in the market for multi-sports, which is not in anyway as big as running. I guess there isn’t a good solution out there because it is really hard to do well.
We are 100% committed to multi-sport
You will see continued steps in that direction. Not sure if you looked at our events platform but it has running so running workouts and training plans are top priority.
As you pointed out running is massive compared to cycling. Here is proof it’s coming soon…
. But you can’t see this yet…
Yet you say that you abandoned outdoor cycling?? The weather has turned to where I will soon take my bike off the trainer to ride outdoors.
No, not abandoned outdoor cycling at all. Where did I say that? Cycling is who we are today, we just see additional needs in the market that could easily bring us a lot more money and that will in turn allow us to do more for cycling ![]()
Excited to hear about your outdoor adventures… Still cold here too, or I wish it was warming but went to MTB jumps with my kids today.
I wish I was as good as them at 11 years old… my bike in the background.
Not explicitly but in post #4 of my thread you said “We used to have an outdoor mode but no one used it.“ Since it was past tense, I inferred it was abandoned. Perhaps I misconstrued?
Oh, most of our users riding outdoors use garmin or wahoo and we want to get better and better at supporting that. We had outdoor recording in our app and we removed the recording gps data. So we are strong into outdoor just not into outdoor recording.
I would have thought to tap into the running market, the solutions for effectively pushing workouts (to watches and head units), which would be mainly outside, would benefit outdoor cycling. As we have both said, the hopeful additional revenue stream could mean more development overall, plus the solutions crossover multiple sports / disciplines.
Oh sorry, no, I meant for him he was looking for outdoor cycling app. I said we are mostly indoor with our app specifically for cycling. Running for sure will be outdoor focus…
Ah, I missed the GPS recording / tracking bit. Strava did that with their phone app and it was a massive fail.
IMO best leave that to those that provide devices that have millions to throw at it, Gamin, Wahoo, Coros, etc.
I would like to see someone, hopefully TD implement pace based workouts (not speed.) off race pace.
So the reference would be Race Pace (RP), be that 5km, 10km (10km can call that threshold for most athletes, although it might be 12km or 15km, elite it will be close the HM), HM, Marathon.
Anyway, so target pace based off (RP)
Pace from percentage of RP
Starting to get deep into Ironman training, I can send a DM when I am making more sense if you are interested in my thoughts. ![]()
I will review this code but ours is based on FTP (functional threshold pace), send me DM, very happy to discuss. Do you mean something different than FTP by race pace? I assume you do based on what you said.
It seems strange to base on a percent of race pace… of different race lengths but I would love to learn more. Maybe I can some how incorporate this.
Yes. Well, it could be unless training for 8km - 10km - 15km race.
FTP pace, not power, is about 10km pace ( my FTP in power is about 405w, run power is over 150 watts more than bike FTP).
In my original comment I was referring to Canova-style training, which even for an amature is a great way to train.
You train below and above race pace to support running at race pace, sometimes a bit below or above +/- 10% race pace.
If you build a model to train off threshold pace (not speed, pace) you can also train off a percentage of race pace. You just need to anchor it to a different reference. So if you did that and I was training for a Marathon I would lie about my FTP and set it as Marathon pace and train above and below by a precentage (unless you gave the option to offset race pace)
I am not sure I am explaining this well but it is very simple.
I was just researching it and understanding it with AI
I fully get it now. I remember back to VDOT days. I am already complete convinced to add Canova, VDOT, FTP%, I have to spend more time designing this. Not sure if we will launch with it but I really like it.
Your latest question was a good one… but I can’t see it now. Maybe deleted.
I’ll follow this up, in the next few days… big weekend of training planned.
I only put Race paced training forward as a suggestion as you already do HR+ training… that is a bit outside what most offer… Race pace training might be similar, as in a great way to train but there isn’t a platform that makes it easy.
It’s a DM
